What HubSpot really costs

Sales Hub Starter is a fair $20/seat. The trap is the ladder: Professional jumps to $100/seat/month with a required one-time $1,500 onboarding fee — for a 5-person team that's $500/month plus the toll. Our 5-seat scenario prices every CRM the same way, seats multiplied, fees noted.

The honest budget tier

Zoho CRM's Standard is $14/user (annual) — $70/month for five seats with workflow automation included. Freshsales starts at $9/user. Capsule at $18/user keeps 30,000 contacts. And Less Annoying CRM does something almost nobody does: one plan, $15/user/month, every feature included, no tiers to climb. For small teams that's the whole pitch.

Sales-focused teams should look at Pipedrive ($14/seat annual) and Close ($19/seat, or $9 on annual Solo) — both are sales CRMs by subtype, which we label, because comparing them to an all-in-one platform like HubSpot is only fair when you know what you're not getting (marketing tools, mostly).

Free tiers worth taking seriously

HubSpot's own free tools cover two users indefinitely — the downgrade note on our page is not a joke. Attio and Capsule both run capable free tiers, and Zoho's free plan covers three users. For a founder-stage team the honest answer is often: pay nobody yet.
