The 10-seat reality check
Per-seat PM pricing compounds silently. At our 10-seat scenario: Jira Standard is $79.10/month, ClickUp Unlimited $100, Asana Starter $134.90, monday Basic $90 (annual). None of these are the advertised numbers — those are per-seat teasers, which is exactly why our tables multiply them out.
The cheap and the free
Trello Standard runs $50/month for ten seats ($6/seat monthly, $5 annual) — a legitimate budget option if boards are enough. Plane, the open-source Jira alternative, is free self-hosted with cloud plans from roughly $6/seat. And the free tiers matter here: Jira's own free plan covers 10 users, ClickUp's is unlimited members — our downgrade note fires on both, because for a small team the honest answer is often to pay nothing.
Dev-focused and general-purpose PM are different subtypes — Linear, Jira and Plane versus Asana, monday and ClickUp — and we tag them, because a marketing team 'saving money' by moving to Linear is trading tools, not just prices.
